I’m up early this morning for the last leg to Machu Picchu.  A bus ride along the river to a bridge.  Once across, we slowly climbed a switch back road occasionally backing up to let a bus pass.    Out one window is a vista of the mountains and the river, out the other a wall of stone, ginger, bromeliads, orchids and trees rising steeply out of sight.  At the next turn the view reverses.  It wasn’t until we were one or two turns away that we could glimpse some of the structure.  Once out of the bus there is a climb up a narrow stone path before we can see it all.
