We left St. Croix this yesterday at about 8am. Sailing was almost due north to St. John. We took turns at the helm and got acquainted with the nav equipment. At about 3:30 we entered Drake Channel with St. Thomas and St. John (USVIs) on our left, and Tortola, Norman Island and Peter Island (BVIs) on our right with Jost Van Dyke ahead behind Tortola. This is starting to get really pretty. We rounded the corner and headed west to find our mooring at Leinster Bay.
This morning I dove into a Jack Reacher novel. I found 3 of them on the boat. They had been on my list and I had previously read one in the series and enjoyed it a lot. Today was my day to cook so I prepared tuna salad with mayo, a can of jalapeño corn and diced onion. Theresa helped out by making a macaroni salad. Macaroni, black beans, garlic, garlic, garlic. Good stuff.
Early afternoon snorkel to the reef. We are moored in 35 feet of water but you can see the bottom. Its a 120 yard swim to the reef. In the deep part I can see those crazy 3-4 foot tarpon all around me. Kind of eerie. Nicole found a 3 foot moray eel on the bottom snaking his way to a coral head.
