Happy Birthday to me!

Today in Crete became my get better or go home day.  I set out to explore The ruins of Knossos, the ruins of the ancient palace of the Minoans and home to the Labyrinth of the Minotaur.

It was a really good thing that the bus parked close, that it’s a pretty small archeological site and there were plenty of random granite blocks to sit on.  The whole thing was extremely painful. So much so that a fellow traveler offered me some of her Rx pain medication, “The good stuff.”  I passed for the time being but we agreed I could check back in later if needed.

While this outing was pretty painful, it was not so  bad as yesterday and gave me hope that I could continue.  This was the last convenient ‘bail out’ stop that offered somewhat convenient transportation home, a flight to Athens, then home.  I’ll have a couple days to see improvement en route to Egypt.  My last chance to escape will be out of Cairo.  There are not any good options after that until Dubai.
