We departed Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda for a 4 mile trip to Copper Island – not much here but some mooring balls.  We hooked onto one and were immediately greeted by our token 3 foot barracuda.

So I jumped in and took a snorkel.  The water was a little clearer here.  I saw an octopus in the grass below.  It was also a good place to fish watch.  There were a lot of them that let me get close with my GoPro.

I called Nicole over because I saw a huge conch shell on the bottom that I thought she might want to get for Julie.  Turns out that instead of being a 12 inch shell in 15 feet of water, it was a 5 inch shell in 7 feet of water.  It was pretty smelly so we threw it back.

Next leg was to Peter Island.  This is where our captain was going to show off his Mediterranean  anchoring skills.  This is backing into your spot and tying off to rocks with an anchor out the front. This serves two purposes:  it allows you to anchor close to shore when the bottom gets deep quickly and it allows many boats to anchor side by side in a closer, more secure manner without risking swinging into each other.

Nice calm water tonight for sleeping.
