Today was my day to visit the Statue of Liberty. Mostly clear but cool and windy, I thought this might be my best bet. I decided to get downtown by way of a hop-on, hop-off bus. This started at Times Square and did a nice loop around NoHo, SoHo, Chinatown, Greenwich Village, the financial district, Wall Street and Battery Park where I got off to ferry to the Statue.
I skipped Ellis Island in favor of taking the uptown tour, so when I got back to Times Square, I traded buses to head Uptown. This ride got me all around Central Park. It also got me a look at:
- NYU
- Grant’s Tomb
- The Guggenheim
- 9/11 Memorial
- Cathedral of St John the Devine
- American Museum of Natural History
- Andrew Carnegie’s Mansion
- Carnegie Hall
- Museum of the City of New York
- The Dakota
- Lincoln Center
- Hamilton’s Grave
After all this fun, I decided it would be a good time to go up the Empire State Building.
Had to scooter on back to Brooklyn after this as it was getting dark and it’s a 40 minute trip. Walking back from the metro station, I encountered my first rat. It’s garbage day and they only set out sacks so I guess he’s eating for the week.
