I arrived right on schedule. I had the happy accident of having an entire row to myself on the SFO-MUC leg of my trip so I was able to get a couple short laying down naps during the overnight trip.
I took the metro from the airport to my stop at Monasriraki Square. From there it was a seven minute walk through impossibly narrow unmarked streets to my room, (thank goodness for Google maps because I couldn’t find a single street sign.) I dove in for my 12 hour catch up sleep and got up this morning ready to check things out.
I visited the ruins of Hadrian’s Library, then had lunch at a sidewalk restaurant, Greek salad and moussaka, kind of safe choices but really good. Then down to the ancient agora where there were a few acres of ruins plus the not-so-ruined Temple of Haphaestus and the Stoa os Attalos.
Tomorrow, climb the Acropolis!
